METABURST: JUNE 18TH

Thanks for joining us for this week’s edition of Metaburst! Today, we're covering Metallica shredding in Fortnite, Tetris dropping into Minecraft, and Sour Patch Kids spreading mischief in Roblox. Read on for more details:

METALLICA SHREDS ON FORTNITE

Fortnite has given us plenty of fuel for virtual concerts on their platform, from Ariana Grande to Eminem. Well, this next group will have you off to Never Neverland - it’s Metallica! They’re not just performing in Fortnite, Metallica will ride the lightning into all game modes from Festival to Battle Royale. You can even load up with LEGO versions of each band member! If we can’t collect all four of those then nothing else matters. There will be six opportunities to view the concert starting June 22nd!

TETRIS RAINS BLOCKS ON MINECRAFT

Tetris turned 40 this month! To celebrate, they released an official add-on with Minecraft. Now, texture packs for properties like Halo and Skyrim have been around for years, but this Tetris add-on is the first branded one sold in the Minecraft Marketplace. This add-on merges Tetris themed weapons, armor and monsters with the Minecraft universe. But the blocky goodness doesn’t end there - Tetris is also releasing a Minecraft DLC on July 30th! Tetris is the highest selling game in history at over 520 million units worldwide. Minecraft lands second with over 300 million. This collaboration between the two top games could lead to even more sales and awareness!

SOUR PATCH KIDS WREAK HAVOC IN ROBLOX

First they were sour, then they were sweet… now, they’re on Roblox! The extremely flavorful candy company built a game called “Mischief Tycoon!” In it, those kooky kids destroyed the land and it's up to players to rebuild it! Each mini-game is designed after candies like: Watermelon Blast or Peach Falls. There are several themed UGC items to win like a candy-coated jetpack and cape! Is anyone else’s mouth watering?

Each week, Super League explores news about how the biggest companies are embracing the metaverse. This week, we learned about Fortnite’s next big musical collaboration, and a match made in blocky heaven with Minecraft and Tetris! Lastly, we saw how candy companies like Sour Patch Kids engaged with the immersive space through their Roblox game. Come back next week for more news from the metaverse!
